Parking, ground transportation, accessibility — and a few things you won't find at most airports.
In 2014, MAF became the first primary commercial service airport in the United States to also hold an FAA Commercial Space Launch Site license. Today, our 9,500-foot runway serves both Boeing 737s and the next generation of horizontal-launch spacecraft.
Aerospace tenants conduct research, suborbital test flights, and propulsion development from the same field where you'll board your morning flight to Dallas. The future of flight, parked next to the present.

A regional airport runs differently than a hub. Here's what to know before you head out the door.
MAF participates in TSA PreCheck and CLEAR. Standard security lines rarely exceed 15 minutes, but holiday travel periods can push that to 30+. Plan accordingly.
Active loading only at the curb — no waiting. Use our free Cell Phone Lot off Wright Drive for pickups. You'll be moved along quickly if you stop curbside without a passenger to load.
Midland International Air & Space Port traces its origin to a 1942 Army Air Forces training base — a wartime runway carved out of the West Texas mesquite. After the war, the field transitioned to civilian use, and over the next eight decades grew into the principal commercial airport serving the Midland–Odessa metro and the broader Permian Basin oil region.
Today, MAF connects roughly 700,000 passengers per year to hubs including Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, and Denver. American, United Express, and Southwest provide daily service. Avflight Midland operates the FBO for general and corporate aviation.
In 2014, MAF made aviation history as the first U.S. primary commercial service airport to also receive an FAA Commercial Space Launch Site License — a designation that has attracted aerospace research tenants, propulsion testing programs, and a growing community of horizontal-launch space ventures.
